Do the Write Thing

Jordan's Heart

My new-born son had certain complications when he was born. The situation prompted me to write this fictional story. Like all fathers, I looked at my son and wished he could speak to me. This is the story of Jordan's heart.

When Jordan was born, his heart beat so fast. He asked his mother, "Why does my heart beat so fast?"

She told him, "Jordan, my dear, you have a special heart. Your heart is so special that it has its own beat."

"But Mom, can you tell me why?" asked Jordan.

"It is just a special heart," she replied.

So Jordan went into the next room where his dad was watching TV and said, "Dad, I don't know if Mom knows why my heart is so special. Can you tell me?"

His father looked at him and picked him up and said, "Jordan, the reason you have a special heart is because your heart is your soul. That is the reason you have a special heart."

When Jordan heard that, he looked at his father and smiled. He told his father, "Dad. I love you." Then he slowly fell asleep in his father's arms.

His father looked at him and wondered if all other fathers feel the same way that he did. "If they do," he thought, "they feel all the joy and love that I feel for my son."

Not only is his heart special, my son is special because I love him with all of my heart..
