Do the Write Thing

A New Life

F. Chihan

When I was young, my life so easy because my father took care of all my family. He always was trying to make everyone happy. I never saw him complain. He was working hard.

After a while, my father got sick. Then he went to the doctor. He told him he had kidney stones. My father was scared because the doctor told him, You have to have surgery." This was the point when all my life changed. Now we had to do something to help my father to get better.

We sold the house where we were living, and we rented a small apartment, and then my mother started to tell everyone in the house no more vacation. She asked my brother to work part time in the summer.

Then I felt something different. Now we had to be responsible for my father. When he was in surgery, the doctor took out one kidney from him. In this period, we just stayed to pray very much for my father.

Now my father is fine, but I still feel the same. That is the big reason that pushed me more to come to the U.S.A. to work hard for
my father. When I came here, I found something to push me more to stay in the U.S.A. I found my husband, and I will be here to make a better future for my children. That is a new responsibility with a new life.
