Do the Write Thing

Three Kings' Day

Milca Cristian

I won't forget "The Day of the Kings" - "El Dia de Reyes." It is the most important day for the children. When I was a child, I enjoyed that day a lot. After all parties of the month of December, the next important day is "the Day of the Kings" on 6th day of the New Year in January. On that day every child prepares candy, water and grass like I did. Some children put cigarettes, but in my case I didn't want that the kings smoke. The children put it below the bed, so each child goes to the bed early because the parents say if they don't get to bed early, the kings don't come to that house.

I forgot to say that "El Dia de Reyes" - "the Day of the Kings" - is a day when most of the children receive toys, so they are very, very, very happy that day. The candy that children put is for the kings and the water, too. The grass is for the camels, because they believe that the kings come on camels. They come at midnight when the children are sleeping. The kings come in across hollow of the door, so they transform like ants.

The next day, after 6th January, is the most hoped for day for every child, but it is one day hoped for by the parents, too. "The Day of the Kings" is a wonderful day. Every parent enjoys that day to see their children happy.
