My Little Angel

I said, "Faith."

So, here I was sitting on the bench next to the angel and all of a sudden there was a bright light in the sky. The angel said it looked like a bright star. I said, "No way! It's a planet." So we sat and watched and watched, but nothing happened.

Then, all of a sudden, it twirled down in a basket and it was a baby angel. There was a tag that read: "Keep me, I am cuddly and warm and I need a good home." On the other side there was a bright red tag that said: "Serenity," so I picked Serenity up and she was warm and soft. I asked the angel, "What now? We'll have to find a new home."

We walked through the town of Higher Power, and on the first street, step one, the woman said, "I am powerless and I cannot help you."

We walked further down and at the second house, step two, we asked the man if he could take baby Serenity. He said, "No way, I need to find a higher power and Serenity is not it!"

We walked very slowly to the next house, which was step three, and the woman who answered said she was working on letting go. I looked at the angel and said, "This is a huge task, after all."

Faith responded, "Let's try the scary house on the hill..."

So we started up the big hill. On the way, we approached a tree and on the tree was a note that told us to beware of the house on the hill. All of a sudden, the tree spoke! "I wouldn't go up there!"

"Who said that?" I asked.

"This is acceptance!"

But we decided to keep on walking. When we finally reached the big house, we knocked and a little old woman answered the door. My knees were shaking, but I said, "Will you take the baby angel?"

"No way, don't you know where you are? You are at step four, which is a fearless moral inventory. I'm very dedicated to my work, No way!" She slammed the door.

Back down the hill we turned left onto Easy Does It Street. The first house was step five, so I rang the bell. A little boy answered the door and I got excited because it was the place where you tell another human being your wrong-doings.The little boy got a young lady, and she said, "This is a secret house. No way!"

Discouraged, we moved down to the next house, which was step number seven. I felt lucky there, but the answer was "No!" again.

"Faith, this seems impossible."

"Oh, take it easy, would you? We'll find someone; I have faith!"

The next house we went to was step number eight where we made a list of all those people who have been harmed.

"This house looks wild! What do you think?" I asked, and I rang the bell a couple of times.

Someone came to the door and yelled, "Whatever, the answer is no!" and they slammed the door.

At the next corner, I said, "This time let's go right." So we went right and there was a playground. We went over to the first lady and she told us that her house was step nine, where we had to make direct amends to those we had harmed for no reason. She also told us that there was no room for little Serenity.

The next person seemed young and healthy, so I asked her, "This little angel needs a new home." She answered that she lived in a house for step ten, but her wrong-doings prevented her from taking the little angel.

We decided that there we were having no luck at the park, so we moved on down the street. There were two streets: Live And Let Live, and the other was Listen To Listen. We decided to take Listen To Listen Street.

The first house was small, and it was step eleven. Step eleven was to seek through prayer and meditation to improve contact with God. I rang the bell, but there was no answer. I waited a few minutes and rang the bell again. A woman answered.

"Can't you read? There's prayer and meditation in progress-Do not disturb!" she said.

Finally, we reached the last house on the block. "Little Serenity, I have a good feeling about this one," I said.

"Are you sure, Faith?" Asked the angel.

"Yes, I am! Okay, little angel, you ring the bell for good luck. This is step twelve, so it has to be the one!"

Step twelve is to have a spiritual awakening as a result of all of the other steps. We tried to tell the little lost angel to practice all of the principles we had learned. At last, I rang the bell and another woman answered it.

"What took you so long?" She asked. "I've been waiting for my little angel, Serenity!"

We gave the woman Serenity and left. Faith turned to me and said: "Next time, we'll start at step twelve." I laughed and agreed and everyone lived happily ever after.
