Pride, what is pride?
Pride is something you are proud of.
Pride is something you will die for.
Pride is your heritage.
Pride is something we used to have.
Pride is Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman,
Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Rosa Parks,
Black Panthers, and all the other great Black people.
But where did our pride go? How did we lose it?
We take pride in selling drugs now.
We take pride in killing one another now,
We take pride in calling ourselves; Nigga’s now,
Willie Lynch would be; Proud; of us now.
When will we get our real Pride back?

I was inspired to write this poem from a quote from 2 Pac the singer, entitled “Proud too be Black, but why do we act like we don’t love ourselves”.
