
1. Writing Process
a. We welcome writings from all students currently enrolled in ABE, Pre-GED, GED and ESOL classes. We encourage writings from students of all abilities.
b. Students may submit individually and/or as a group.
c. All writings will be published (in print and online) as received. No editing will be done after pieces are submitted.
d. Writings must not exceed 600 words, which is a length suitable to be read aloud at the student author reception.
2. Electronic Submission
a. All writings must be submitted electronically.
b. Once you submit your writing electronically, you will be notified automatically of its receipt with a “congratulations” screen. If you do not see the “congratulations” screen after you click submit, please assume that it was not received by SABES and attempt to resubmit. If you have any problems, contact Joanne at 508-854-4476.
c. Within a week of the electronic submission, the signed “ Student Author/Artist Information Form” must be mailed to Joanne Harrington, S ABES, QCC, 670 West Boylston Street , Worcester , MA 01606 .
d. Submission deadline is December 19, 2008.
3. Upon receipt, all writings will be posted on our web site for evaluation purposes. No names will be posted without signed permission (which can be found on the “ Student Author/Artist Information Form” )
4. Art work submissions. Use your imagination and submit artwork for the cover of DTWT. Submit hard copy with signed “Student Author/Artist Information Form” to : SABES, Joanne Harrington, QCC, 670 West Boylston Street , Worcester , MA 01606 .
5. The Editorial Board
a. Will consist of teachers (Editorial Team Leaders) and their classes (Editorial Teams).
b. Teachers can go online and sign their classes up any time before November 15, 2008.
c. All new Editorial Team Leaders will receive training on how to use the rubric.
d. The Editorial Board will make selections based on the DTWT rubric (which is on the website).
e. Entries selected by the Editorial Board will be in the DTWT publication and these authors will be honored at the Authors' Reception on Thursday, May 14, 2009.
6. Central MA SABES reserves the right to refuse publication and posting on the web site of entries with inappropriate content (foul language, violence, derogatory comments towards race, religion, gender, sexual orientation).
