Earthquake

On January 11, 2001, there was an earthquake in my country. This day I was with my family in my house. I got up early because my daughter and my son had an appointment in the dentist office. When I came back to my house, the earthquake started. My first thing to do was to look for my children.

I took my little daughter who was sleeping in her room. My son and my other daughter were playing in the backyard. When I had my three children, I left my house and went out to the street. All was moving and I couldn't walk because of that.

When the earthquake ended, we came back to the house. All was broken inside and everything was on the floor. We had no electricity, telephone and water. That night nobody was sleeping because of the little moving of the earth. The next day was the most horrible day in my life. I told my son that his best friend died. It hurt me when my son asked me why his best friend and his family died in the earthquake and only his mother survived.

My son still remembers when he and his friend played soccer together. I said thanks to God for keeping my family safe and I prayed for the other family that lost members.
