America is an amazing country and a lot of people in my country are dreaming to come here to live. My husband visited the USA for the first time more than ten years ago, and from that time he wanted to come back here with his family. He had a lot of impressions about this country but he knew that life here is not as easy as it seems.

When we came here my husband already had a job and his company gave us a lot: an apartment, furniture, kitchen ware, and more. We were amazed how clean and nice it was outside, on the streets, flowers were everywhere and people . . .they were smiling at you and were very welcoming. They greeted you even though they don't know you. That made a big impression. But time flies.

My husband's contract finished. He had to find another job. At that time we realized the full reality of American life. We couldn't speak English! It was the worst. I couldn't work because I didn't have a green card yet.

And one more thing I had to go through. It was to learn to drive a car. So, it was a lot of work and it was very stressful. But there are a lot of kind people in this world. Some people here, who we didn't know before, helped us to find an apartment. My husband got a job and we started to do all the things by ourselves. We opened a bank account, got a phone number, found a school for our daughter, and more. I started my English classes, I got my driver's license, and in a while, got a part-time job in a dental office. In a few weeks I'm going to start a full time job. It is a big step in my life. I couldn't even imagine I could achieve that.

I really appreciate the ESOL program, which made me start to write, speak, and understand English and continue to improve my English skills. It is helping me everytime and everywhere.

Life here is very busy and not easy. But I feel like I like this life and this country because everything is getting easier. My kids have more opportunities for the future. I know I still have a long way to go to improve, and to achieve, but I want it and I will do it.
