When my daughter was nine years old, we went on
a month long
vacation. We left Korea in early November and we went to Hong Kong
for
ten days. We went sightseeing and shopping and we ate good food there.
From Hong Kong we went to Australia for ten days
and to a little island named Fiji. My husband helped me pick out
a hotel in Hong
Kong and in Australia, but we didn't plan to visit Fiji and I forgot to
make a reservation. When we arrived at the hotel there wasn't any room
available. I was so surprised that no room was available because it was
a big hotel. I realized at that moment we might not have any place to
spend the night.
The receptionist was so kind and understood us,
so we could at least have a place to sleep in. We felt so bad that
we were taking one
of the staff's room, but the staff kept apologizing. His room had no
bathroom and we had to walk down the hallway to use the bathroom. The
staff room was very simply decorated with twin beds, but very clean. We
were grateful for any room, so we really didn't mind walking down the
hallway to use the bathroom. And an amazing thing was the hotel didn't
charge us any money.
The next day we were able to find a hotel and we
went there. We were very grateful to the hotel staff for giving us
his room for the night.
From Fiji we went to New Zealand, Hawaii and California. But
the best part of the vacation we can remember was the act of kindness by
the staff in Fiji Island.
