In My Heart and In My Mind

 

 

 

These few lines are but to say
I had you on my mind today
This is true but just in part
I also felt you in my heart

In my heart and on my mind
This is love the surest sign
You're here in all I say or do
That tells me I'm in love with you

Every day is much the same
Subconsciously I say your name
You come to mind, I know not how
I even feel your presence now

I know I dream, perhaps too much
It helps me feel that where in touch
If that's the case then all is fine
I'll just keep you on my mind

In pleasant thoughts and peaceful dreams
You're always with me so it seems
Together, that's the nicest part
You're on my mind and in my heart.

The author is from Lancaster. She studies at Mount Wachusett Community College Adult Learning Center in Devens where she recently earned her GED. She currently works for the Leominster Senior Center. She is a mother of two and a wife as of September of this year. Her future goals are to continue writing, finish college, and be the best mother and wife that she can be. She wrote the poem “In My Heart and On My Mind” to tell the man she loves how she feels about him.
