Growing Up in Guatemala

Jeyner Gonzalez

I grew up in Jutiapa, department of Guatemala. I was the oldest of 3 brothers. It was a nice time.

I started school when I was six years old. In elementary school I sometimes walked and I sometimes took a little bus to be there on time. In the school we had ten classes in that including English, arts, music and others. The class was large with guys and girls together.

The year of school began in January and ended in October, during the year we also had a couple of weeks off, during that time I spend the time with my family and friends going to many places to visit.

In High School it became the best time of my life. I met a lot of people after that they were my friends. In the afternoon I went to different places to do my homework. When I worked in little groups, it was nice because my friends and I also took part of the time to go somewhere even to eat and go to the park.

After school finished I also spent time helping my aunt at home. After that I played soccer with my friends, it was my favorite sport to play. I also spent time playing videogames, my aunt was angry because I spent most of my time playing. Also, I went to my grandmother's house to visit her because she always was waiting for me and my brothers. We had the most love for her. I can remember that was a nice time.
