Turning a Bad Experience into a Good One

Mynor Vasquez

My name is Mynor Vasquez. I am from Guatemala. I am forty years old. I am married with a wonderful girl but we do not have any children. We live in Waltham, Massachusetts. My occupation is landscaping. I came into the USA in 1998.

When I first arrived into this country I did not know any English at all. A few years later I went back to my country without knowing any English. In the USA, I did not want to go to school because all I did was work day and night. I used to be busy. Working hard but I did not have time to spend studying the wealthy English language.

When I went back to my country and I started to live there two great opportunities were presented to me and those were two great jobs. One was at a wharf, and the other one was at the airport. But they did ask me a question do you speak any American English? And I answer to them " no, I do not speak English at all." So they told me we cannot hire you because you do not speak any American English. Then I said to them good- bye.

After those two bad experiences I had in my country, I said to myself I have to go back to U.S.A. and start to learn the English Language. Then I left my country again and I started to head over to the U.S.A. and thanks to Father God I made it back into this country again. As soon as I arrived in to this country again I started to learn the English Language. I made sure those bad experiences do not happen to me again. And thanks to Jesus, and the Power -Program, I improved my English a little bit though I still need to learn much more.
