Do the Write Thing

The Love of God

My father is a farm worker. He started working when he was 10 years old because my grandfather died when he was a little kid. He grew up with 5 brothers.

When he was 20 years old, he started drinking and smoking. He drank for about 15 years then he quit. I was so happy when he told us. But he was smoking more often so we were worried because he was coughing a lot and he was getting skinny. We told him to stop smoking but he did not listen to us. We were worried that some day he would get cancer.

About six months ago he did not get up from bed for one week. I was sad and my mom was sad too so I told them to go to a doctor. But he did not go because my uncle is a doctor and he came to my father house. My uncle told my father that he had symptoms of lung cancer. When my mom told me I did not know what to do because my father and I did a lot of things together. We had good and bad times together, and he is my best friend. I love him a lot.

So I talked to the pastor from my church about my father on the weekend we went to Maryland for a conference. It was Saturday we were in church when I asked the pastor to pray with me for my father. I did not know but my dad and mom were also praying down in Guatemala at the same time we were praying in Maryland. They did not know that we were praying either. So when we were praying I felt something good in my heart. I gave thanks to Jesus because I knew he was doing something good for my family.

My mom did not eat anything all day on Sunday. Monday morning they went to see a doctor. The next day they went back to the doctor and the doctor told my father the he was in better health. The doctor asked my father, "What did you do to be in good condition?" My father told the doctor that he had smoked since he was 20 years old. The doctors could not believe. So, my father said Jesus did a miracle on my life. My father said, I will not drink or smoke again I have a wonderful family
