List of Authors          List of Writings          Authors' Receptions

To read one’s writing is to take a piece of him or her with you. Congratulations to all of this year’s budding authors who have been selected to partake in this edition of “Do the Write Thing.” As always, the process of choosing pieces over others was not an easy task to perform, and we thank everyone who submitted their writing to give a piece of “You” to us.

Writing has proven itself a conveyor of mind, soul and self; but this year a new aspect was introduced. The computer: A useful aide in the process, yet capable of yielding minor difficulties. We all understand that technology both helps and hinders, but overall we believe that making the process electronic is a positive step into the future.

To go along with the introduction of technology, the selection process itself underwent modifications as of this year. In order to further incorporate you, the students, into what is rightfully your creation, we decided to have a board of                                                                  peer evaluators to join in the selection of the final pieces. Now more than ever before, the creating and evaluating is in your hands from start to finish.

Eyes that are blind to the live version of the world around them are somehow more able to see if that life is printed in black and white. Typed or scrawled words, a jumble of letters, spaces, and punctuation has the ability to speak to us. We all would converse and relate more freely, if only we did not fear picking up a pencil. In light of that, we of the Editorial Board would like to sincerely commend those of you courageous enough to set pen to paper. Thank you so much for sharing!

To any and all who have spent time in collaboration for this publication, we thank you. Ideas and inspiration are wonderful, yes, but without your dedication and help, they would not come to light the way they do within these pages. Thank you, members of the Editorial Board, and most importantly teachers who take the time to encourage and educate our students.

So what are you waiting for? Grab a pen, a pencil, a spare piece of paper; give us your soul, show us your world the way you see it; “Do The Write Thing!”
