The Life Story

The young widow, who had one daughter, got married again. In this marriage she had two other kids. When her oldest daughter reached 14 years, the step-father said to the mother, “Your older one is old enough to earn her own money. She must quit school and find a job.”
"No way!” answered the mother, “I'm a poor woman, who never went to school, who doesn't know how to read and write. Like no one else, I know how difficult it is to live without education. So,” she continued, “all my kids will be well educated. It doesn't matter, if you want it for them or not!”
“I'm not going to feed your daughter”, yelled her husband.
“I'm going to leave you,” was the answer.
“I will never support you!” shouted the man.
“No one is asking you,” replied the woman. They got divorced.

Years later the old, very sick man was laying on the couch. He understood the end is so close. He asked to call his ex-wife. “I would like to say I'm sorry,” he said, “you were right. You raised three kids without any support. Your oldest daughter became a professor in the college, our daughter is an engineer and our son is a good farmer. You gave a good education to all of them, but I lost my kids. Sorry,” he repeated, “I made a huge mistake.”
