Our First Language

I hold my baby so many times in my arms to feed him. Nobody can imagine how amazing that time was for us. With beautiful smiles, hugs, sometimes tears, every year that went by our communication was starting. I am sure that a long time ago, the same thing happened with my mother and I.

We had to come here a few years ago, and a new challenge started. And that challenge was to learn English. We are still working on that, especially me. We are in a country where so many languages are spoken, by so many different people. Every day in our lives we have a new experience with that.

My husband came into our lives and brought with him a new culture and a new language too. Now we speak a mix of languages at home. But, there is only one language that is spoken perfectly for all of us. “The Language of Love:” that’s the one that I will always call “our first language.”
