THE PASION OF THE CHRIST

The Passion of The Christ focuses on the last twelve hours of Jesus of Nazareth's life. The film begins in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus has gone to pray after sitting the Last Supper. Jesus must resist the temptations of Satan. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus is then arrested and taken within the city walls of Jerusalem where leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy and his trial results in a condemnation to death. This movie is a must see, I don’t find it violent or anti-semantic. In fact, it makes people realize how much suffering Jesus did go through to save humanity. I think the director has no choice but to display the torture Jesus went through due to the fact of “high priests” being threatened of their position in society.

I feel that the film has been controversial only due the people’s own interpretation or defense of their religious standing. If one reads the bible it is all documented. One should view this film as a piece of art, an artist’s interpretation of what he envisioned when he read the Bible or verses of the last 24 hours of Christ’s life. Do you need a particular religious background to understand this movie? I don\'t think so. You might miss a few subtleties, but I think the essential story and messages are easy to follow. I don\'t feel that this movie condemned any particular religion or race. It showed those of wealth and worldly power.

This movie is a very powerful and emotional movie. I saw this movie five days ago, and I'm still thinking about it. Forget about all the negative reviews you've heard or read, about the movie being controversial and graphic. It is a movie that reminds me of the passion of Christ. Although the brutal torture was shown, it portrays how Christ had suffered for our sins. It makes my heart more open for Him again to ask for forgiveness and thanks. Almost unbelievable! Jesus, Thank You! To think that he was able at any moment to take himself out of the situation he was in and he chose to do God's. After watching this film, I felt such an emotional relaxation that have never felt before!

The movie was a great cinematic interpretation of what Jesus sacrificed so that He may totally conquer Satan in order for us to have victory over the evil one. Only when one prays in His name can the evil one back away since He went until the end for us. This movie puts things in their right historical context, by showing in a more realistic way how the suffering and the martyrism of Jesus the messiah may have happened. Above all this movie was touching as it expresses a good tribute to the Christ and his mission.
